Mise en scene is a French term which means “place on stage”.
Mise en scene often includes the use of setting and props, use of costume hair and makeup, facial expressions and body language, the lighting and colour featured and the position of characters and objects within frame.
2)For each of the following headings find an image and write about the connotations.
Lighting/colour– The use of colour in this scene is how the lack of colour displays the darkness of the picture and the fact that with the exception of his face the scene is almost pitch black so that the focus is on the face.

Costume, Hair & Make Up- There is an extreme use of costume and makeup used in this shot this use is to portray the sheer craziness and insanity of the character and gives of a rather creepy vibe.

Props and settings- The shot below show numerous varying amounts of props in one area this is commonly used to show the varying amount of detail in a single frame.

Positioning of characters-
Positioning of characters can sometimes have a certain effect on a scene for example in the shot below it gives a feeling of dominance from the man on the right over the man on the left.

Facial expressions and body language. I chose this shot because it is a perfect example of a facial expression used in film. Facial expressions and body language often adds atmosphere and feeling to a scene.

The lighting used in this shot is a normal and more realistic form of lighting. This is likely used to give off a real life atmosphere added to the scene and make it more relate-able.
Filming session:
I used a basic shot list which included all the different shots I needed to take during the session these included a variety of shots such as Location- exterior long shot establishing shot, low angle close up, Hand held point of view, Mid shot, close up Extreme close up, point of view and mid shot. I had 4 people in my group including me and we had 1 hour from start to finish to fulfill the task to which was completed.
My team demonstrated good teamwork skills as everyone had a different role within the group from carrying equipment to taking the pictures and looking at where to be next, these roles changed so that everyone got a chance at doing the picture taking while others did the lifting.I did most of the carrying of equipment. Making sure it was not damaged. I also had a chance to set the camera and tripod up ready for filming.
When it came to setting up the camera and tripod we had minor issues at first but eventually we were able to get it ready properly. We had to spread the three tripod legs carefully so it would stand up properly and not break.
In terms of technical skills I learned how to set up a tripod and camera properly along with this I learned about how to use the different camera angles I also learned to do a countdown before and after filming so people know when to start saying their lines and when the filming starts only start filming at action.
When it came to the groups strengths and weaknesses we proved good at finding areas to take the clips however in terms of weaknesses we had the issue of setting up the camera and tripod. We occasionally had to re-shoot as people kept walking in front of the camera.
