When I finished filming I had to watch the film several times to decide where it needed editing. This was so I knew which parts needed editing in order to produce the most interesting clips for the viewer. I then used sites such as Free sound and Ben sound to search fir copyright free sounds in order to find the suitable backing music. I found some appropriate music and I set it at the right volume so you could hear all the people talking and it wasn’t too distracting.
I had to use final cut pro to to add the clips to the video. I had to cut the video clips and sound snippets to fit them together in a way that made the video actually look genuine. I first had to drag and drop the sound I wanted then I had to use the slice tool to cut out the part I didn’t want. I then had to adjust the volume of each clip so that it was silent. I had to then implement the sound into the right areas.
Final cut pro has taught me how to create a video that has a perfect balance of sound and dialogue. out I also made it so that that each line of dialogue matches perfectly with one or two of the scenes depending on how long the dialogue is.
A transition is changing between scenes often used in filming.
A dissolve is when the camera slowly fades to black. Another effect commonly used in filming.
A fade is where the camera slowly fades into focus
A matrix wipe is a patterned transition between two images. The matrix wipe can be various patterns such as a grid or stars.
The job of a video editor:
A video editor’s role is to edit a film or video after all the shots have been taken. This is done through an editing software I movie being a basic example of one of these software’s. The success or failure of a movie or video is in the hands of the film editor. The final production must be a coherent project that incorporates the story line and personality of the starring actors. In order to be a video editor you must have basic knowledge of the plot of the movie as well as a good understanding of editing software.
